Founder, Mondiant Initiative
Dogon Nshimiyimana Mondiant [he/him] is a Congolese author, entrepreneur, and human rights advocate committed to expanding opportunity for displaced and underserved communities. He is the founder of the Mondiant Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing access to higher education, leadership development, and career pathways for refugees. He is also the founder and CEO of Cléza Group Ltd, a social enterprise focused on manufacturing hygiene products while creating sustainable economic impact.
Dogon is the author of The You Who Waits on the Other Side, Those We Throw Away Are Diamonds, When the Rain Was the Only Witness, The Girl from North Kivu, and Every Fall Is Part of the Climb.
His work is deeply rooted in lived experience, exploring themes of identity, resilience, displacement, and the human capacity to rise beyond adversity. His work has been featured in The New York Times, BBC, Time, UNHCR, and other major international media platforms.
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in refugee camps in Rwanda, his journey has been shaped by hardship, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of purpose. He studied at the University of Rwanda and later at New York University, where he expanded his global perspective and strengthened his commitment to impact-driven leadership.
Through his work across storytelling, social impact, and enterprise, Dogon builds bridges between communities and opportunities. His mission is to transform limitation into possibility and to create systems that empower others to thrive with dignity, purpose, and lasting impact.
