NYU Alumni Club in Shanghai

Since its inception in 2013, the NYU Alumni Club in Shanghai has delivered high-quality programs reflecting the shared values of the NYU community, hosting more than 175 programs since 2017.

Key initiatives include Reading with NYU and the Back to School Series, a book club series featuring NYU professors; the Graduation Reminiscence Video, a collection of alumni memories viewed more than 100,000 times; and the Thanksgiving Gala, the club's signature event celebrating American culture in China. The club's communication leaders manage a WeChat channel with nearly 20,000 followers and regularly post My NYU Story, a monthly alumni interview series with 80 stories published so far. This program received the 2018 Innovation of the Year Alumni Volunteer Award and a 2019 CASE Circle of Excellence award for Innovative Alumni Programs.

The NYU Alumni Club in Shanghai's 13-member planning committee serves for an average of five years, working alongside neighboring cities without large enough alumni pools to form official clubs. They help organize collaborative events once or twice a year, traveling to these annual gatherings, speaking about the region's alumni, and sharing best practices to foster a sense of belonging within the broader alumni family.
